Meeting the Bar: Creativity

Creative Mojo

spike studded vixens with barbecue fixin’s

adult feature twins in alligator skins

whipped cream desires drown lime gelato

poetic puissance that feasts on the flow

✧✦✧✦✧

playing the bongo’s and sipping hard ciders

betting my money with wall street insiders

candy cane dreams that I’ll never outgrow

fanciful visions that turn on the flow

✧✦✧✦✧

leprechaun elf men that live in the sound

hiding in places not easily found

mint-flavored doses to crank up the flow

kick into gear that creative mojo

✧✦✧✦✧

when the wife screams, when the phone rings

when I’ve had enough

I shuffle that marked deck

and take one more card

bet the house limit and bluff

Today Anna Montgomery is tending the bar @ dVerse Poet’s Pub

and has requested the following:

Today I’d like you to think about a time when you’ve experienced or championed the immersion of creative flow; the agony, disappointment, or rejuvenation of a creative U-turn; how you incubate new ideas or divergent thinking; or examine creativity as a subject in your poem. Perhaps you believe in a muse, a methodology, or an artistic path. Maybe, like me, you enjoy exploring the scientific breakthroughs in the neuroscience of creativity. Whatever your angle of entry, please take your love of poetry and the fascinating processes of your own mind and join us in investigating creativity!

    Randy,
You manage to weave vice and virtue into a plait that shines and swings and invites the reader to give it a twirl or a tug. Well done.

Your fabulous use of rhythm and rhyme makes this poem swing along at a good pace. I love the humour in it too.

I like this. This is definitely creative, I can see how all of these things might inspire you to write. Sensory stimulation is always inspiring for my writing, but I have no poker face :)
